Our research starts from the scrupulous selection of raw materials where, according to our internal Policy, we have voluntarily decided not to use ingredients that are harmful to the environment or people, we minimize the use of hazardous substances and take initiatives, which also go beyond legal requirements.
We do not voluntarily include in the formulations raw materials classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic and/or reprotoxic (also known as CMR) or substances classified as SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) or ESD (Endocrine System Disrupters).
We evaluate raw materials not only for their dangerousness, but also for the possible presence of CMR or SVHC/ESD impurities, so as to possibly research more harmless alternatives.
We generally avoid substances classified as VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and, where possible, use technically equivalent raw materials. In the event that their use in the formulation is essential to ensure a product’s effectiveness, the percentage included in the formula is reduced to a minimum.
We develop our formulas and packaging to ensure high-cleaning performance, but at the same time protection, prevention and safety for the user, for treated surfaces and for any effects on the surrounding environment.
Our Quality Control laboratory constantly checks the quality of the materials purchased, the formulations made in production and the finished products before they are distributed.
None of our formulations is tested on animals and we are against determining the dangerousness of products through experimental practices involving animals.
At Sutter, we determine the classification/labelling of products by the empirical calculation methods required by law and, where necessary, the classification of mixtures is determined by alternative methods such as in vitro testing.
We continuously explore and test new possibilities, raw materials and packaging to provide solutions and products that increasingly meet the expectations and needs of users and at the same time respect the strictest restrictions imposed by environmental and safety standards.
For all of our products, we examine and prefer raw materials and production techniques that are safe for both workers and end users and possibly are obtained from renewable sources and with limited environmental impact.
Since 2015, this effort has allowed us to create natural cleaning products, formulated with raw materials of vegetal origin fully biodegradable, thanks to the use of surfactants that are easily, completely and quickly biodegradable.
The continuous monitoring of the hazard profiles of the substances and performance tests allow us to undertake appropriate reformulation programs. We are constantly striving to create products that are tested, certified and whose quality is appreciated. Today, this effort enables us to offer in the market:
51 disinfectant products
84 products with Ecolabel certification
6 products with ISO 17025 certification
126 GPP compliant products
(Green Public Procurement)
2 products with Österreichische Umweltzeichen certification
8 products with UL certification
1 VAH-certified laundry system
In 2017, we started to use recycled plastic packaging with natural colours not chemically altered, odour-free and that ensures performance and resistance equal to equivalents in virgin material. Today, this choice enables allows us to use bottles and tanks made of RECYCLED PLASTIC, from 100% recycled PET to HDPE with recycled plastic content of at least 50% up to 99%.
More than 300 formulas declined in products
46 eco-sustainable and certified formulas with Environmental Labelling Type 1, compliant with ISO 14024
52 formulas with raw materials of vegetal origin fully biodegradable
77 formulas classified as non-hazardous for the environment and people
28 allergen-free formulas
38 formulas tested to be nickel-free, cobalt-free and chromium-free
Over the years, at our factory in Borghetto di Borbera, we have always worked to achieve optimization and efficiency of production cycles, machinery, offices and associated facilities.
We carry on our business taking into account the state of the art, periodically replacing what is dangerous with what is not or is less dangerous.
We plan prevention and promote training to encourage the organization of employees' work in the right way, with the right equipment and according to the principles of ergonomics and safety.
The authorizations in force for the production areas and procedures are of particular importance:
• the production workshop for disinfectant products, which allows us to offer in the market disinfectants guaranteed by complex Italian legislative and ministerial requirements, some of the most rigorous and demanding in Europe;
• the cosmetics workshop, for the production of cosmetic formulations such as cream and foaming hand soaps;
• the microbiological laboratory, for continuous verification of the quality of the raw materials purchased and finished products.
The market and needs are, however, always growing and therefore in early 2022 we began a strategy of development and technological innovation, by making large “Industry 4.0” investments to automate and upgrade plants, to increase energy efficiency and to expand our production capacity.
